Great crystal mountains filled with magic dampening crystals surround the inner land on the east, north, and west sides of the island, with the south end dropping in elevation until sea level, where light blue sands meet the ocean. Forests separate the inner lands from the harsh shores where beasts known as Veilmaws roam the beaches.

Veilmaws are creatures that look like a fusion of a hound and a rat with blue crystal growths from it's spine. These creatures are drawn to and hunt magic users who wash up on shore.

East on the shore is an orc village, which features a mix of races but is mostly an orcish colony. They're a rougher village. They need to be to fend off the 'maws.

Abandoned homes and former towns litter the shoreline westward.

North through the dense forest line is the central island where the culture and technology are medieval in nature. The people are kept uneducated and dogmatic, believing that magic is a sin against nature and that the crystals protect us.

The northern city walls separate the elite from the peasants. Just outside the city are rows of markets, filled with people trying to appeal to the elite with their goods and services.

Inside the city is a different world. The peasants generally do not venture this far north without a reason. The elite live in a steampunk technology era. Steam powers the city. The technology is not share with those outside these walls.

Some of the villagers outside of these walls cannot see the difference between magic and the steam power that the elite wield. They call the elite hypocrites and sinners.

The people of this land worship many gods. God of the Sun, the Moon, etc, but the one above all is the Crystallin Goddess, who delivered the magic dampening crystals eons ago to protect these people from the magic wielding sinners against nature.

The main castle surrounded and partially built into a crystal mountain of the magic dampening crystals.

The main religion of the region worships this Goddess and the faithful where a crystal around their necks to mark their faith.

Many wizards or magic users that wash up on shore may find themselves venturing north. If they survive the harsh nature, the Veilmaws and other creatures of the forest, they'd find the people of this land. The culture is a mix of mostly humans, but you'll sparingly find other races such as orcs, tieflings, and elves. The people are extremely distrustful of those who speak of magic and if they find you are a magic user, you may find yourself on trial and sacrificed in Her name.

The blue sands of the island are a mix of sand and ground crystal. Magic is unable to work anywhere on this island due to all of the magic dampening crystals woven through the land and the massive mountains of it surrounding the land. There are also magic dampening plants through the island. The magic dampening fields on this island are powerful enough to prevent even magical potions or scrolls from working. Once a magic user begins to approach this island, they'd feel the magic start to fade, and about a mile out, they'd be severed from their magic completely.
